About the Author
DR. BRADFORD SMART has interviewed more than 4,000 candidates for selection or promotion, and has trained more than 3,000 managers and human resource professionals in various interviewing approaches. His clients include many Fortune 100 companies, the U.S. Government, and a variety of profit and nonprofit organizations in 47 countries. After completing his doctorate in industrial psychology at Purdue University in 1970, he entered consulting. Since 1972, he has been in private practice in management psychology as President of Smart & Associates, Inc., a firm based in Chicago.

Smart Interviewer

This is a practical book for interviewing potential candidates for a job. However, the many tables and work throughs are a bit overboard. All in all, some good information but most people would only need to read a few relevant chapters.

Powerful Tool to Insure Making Good Hiring Choices

This book presents the CIDS interview for hiring new employees. CIDS stands for Chronological In-Depth Survey.
I used CIDS 4 times. 3 times I found a great, A-Player, person who was welcomed with open arms and made tremendous contributions. The other time I was able to avoid making a disastrous hiring decision.
Figure the ROI on that! Just the savings from avoiding that one hiring mistake brings an astronomical ROI percentage. I continue to use this tool and recommend it to everyone.

Good insight

The book covered the bases pretty well and was informative. It showed me a few angles I had not thought of before and was insightful though as expected a little dry.
